PHOTO OF THE DAY- Golden Water Spiral, Australia

When you hop into the lift at Q1, on the Gold Coast, the roof looks see through. The reality though is that there has been a screen placed in behind some glass in the ceiling and a camera mounted outside on the roof pointing straight up into the elevator shaft. There is also a bunch of gizmo read outs like a speedometer and a counter to tell you what level you are on. I felt like Charlie in his Glass Elevator in “Charlie in the Chocolate Factory”. The exciting part is when the turbo lift starts because it goes really really fast ! We are so used to travelling forwards at quick speeds, like in a car or boat, that when we travel up the feeling is so alien to us we go into panic mode. I was in the elevator with a few girls who all squealed and couldn’t look up, haha 🙂 Reaching the top only takes a few seconds and the ride is surprisingly smooth.

So this vantage point is taken from the very centre of Surfer’s Paradise looking south and south-west over the Gold Coast, Australia. There are plenty of small details in this composition so a large print would be great as you could step in and admire the tiny houses with their river front properties, for example, or you could stand back and take in the entire vista. Either way there is much to appreciate here. The mountains on the horizon are the natural geographic border between New South Wales and Queensland, which is an interesting little fact about the picture too. The spiral is just one of many man made river inlets created for the residents to have water access for boats and many of them have their own docks ! right in their backyards as you can see in this image. How lucky are they ? to just step out the back and jump on a boat and cruise off out to enjoy Surfer’s Paradise, it’s no wonder they call this place paradise.
