PHOTO OF THE DAY- Sunset at “Byron Bay Lighthouse”

Byron Bay is the most eastern point of the Australian continent and to warn shipping vessels there is a lighthouse on top of the hill at Cape Byron. I captured this shot of a crowd gathering to enjoy the sunset over the Bay. I set up behind the lighthouse, using my wide angle lens, to get encompass the whole scene. The shot over the bay from where everyone was standing was nice, but I wanted to get the historic lighthouse in and sometimes its nice to show what happens at a place and not just the ‘vista’ you get when you are there. You can see most people are looking to their left, and that was because there was a ‘rowdy’ group of late teens who had all gathered and were having a group photo taken 🙂

The ranger told me that there is often a big crowd like this to watch the sunset up here, and that sometimes they get the most amazing rainbows 🙂 Im pretty happy with all the colour’s I got though…
