PHOTO OF THE DAY- Sydney Harbour Bridge Anniversary
Today, March 19th, the Sydney Harbour Bridge was opened in 1932 making her 81 years young 🙂 I thought it would be fitting to look back through my photography catalog and select a nice image of the Bridge to edit and post in my photography print shop today. I found this nice set of long exposure images where the focus was Luna Park which I actually framed using the Bridge. I took the shots at sunset where there was a nice shiny profile on the buildings and there was that overall warmth on the horizon. I was positioned near the Rocks & Circular Quay, also on the side of the harbour near the Sydney Opera House.
Firstly, I wanted to share an image I got from Australian Geographic taken in 1930 as the two halves of the bridge were slowly built to close up together. It is such a famous image and in a way my image pays homage to this one.
and here is my latest image, I kind of went for a colourful edit to show off modern technique as well as what the harbour is now like, a bright an exciting place on the waters edge. if you’d like to see the full resolution image then click on the image below and you will be forwarded to my shop.
– Adobe Photoshop CS6 used to layer and mask, plus much much more
– On1 Perfect Effects An amazing Filter program to stylise the image. a standalone Filter program which can also be launched from Lightroom, Photoshop or Aperture

below is an example of the detail in the above image. I simply cropped out a small section of it, which just goes to show how awesome this would look in a 30 or 40″ print, canvas or print on metal !
