HDR Ghost Removal in Photomatix tutorial
HDR photography is a passion of mine and I wanted to share with you all how I use Photomatix Pro in my workflow and the best way to do that was to make video’s where you can follow along with me as I edit photos in Photomatix for you.
Photomatix PRO – Is a MAC and PC HDR software for creating stunning HDR images. They have a trial, but if you end up buying a copy of Photomatix you can get a 15% Discount with the coupon code LukeZemePhotography
I use Photomatix Pro Plus Bundle as I use PC and Mac computers, plus you get the Lightroom plugin Merge to 32-bit HDR as a bonus.
What is it ??? Well HDR imagery allows you to get better definition, colour and lighting in the shadows and highlights of a scene through the combinations of a bracket of images. We shoot a scene from a camera (I use nikon D800) on a tripod making sure to shoot underexposed as well as overexposed images. Since we are taking images all from the same vantage point we are able to layer and combine them into one image called a tonemapped image. This is where Photomatix comes into it as they have written software which allows us to have a great amount of customization over the outcome.
I use Photomatix for 95% of my images and then I take it into Photoshop.
An image can sometimes take 2-3 hrs when there are a lot of elements to play with especially like in a cityscape where you can have 100’s of buildings, like this image of Shibuya crossing I made using Photomatix
